Bio: Born and raised in Virginia, Tucson is easily the farthest west I have ever lived. The landscapes out here are amazing, and the weather is pretty good (most of the year). My wife Molly is also a member of the department, and we have three beautiful children.

Bio: Ashwin is getting ready to graduate and has little time for frivolities like a lab website. He plans to pursue a career in medicine.

Bio: Having grown up in Chicago, I am fascinated by the flora, fauna, and incredible landscapes of Arizona. Now that my children are older (and attending UA), I occasionally combine my enjoyment of the outdoors with my dedication to research through volunteer participation in bird surveys for the Audubon Society.

Stephanie Gastelum

Bio: Born in Arizona, raised in Mexico for over 10 years. I was fortunate enough to study the diverse fauna in the Sonoran Desert on both sides of the border as an undergraduate, now I’m focused on cellular bio. I enjoy eating sardines, watching silly dating shows, and being really warm.

Bio: Born and raised in Tucson, I had a small stint where I lived in Spain with my family for a few years, but we missed the desert too much and decided to come back. I’m now planning on graduating next Spring and heading off to graduate school.
